Didier Deschamps ready to select a Petkovic target?

During his press conference this Thursday, Didier Deschamps spoke about the future of certain young talents, notably Maghnes Akliouche, the Franco-Algerian nugget of AS Monaco. While the player arouses the interest of the Algerian national team, Deschamps wanted to clarify his position on a possible integration of Akliouche into the ranks of the Blues, in the same way as his teammate during the Olympics, Enzo Millot: “Is Are they far away? Yes and no. It’s in relation to the competition,” explained the coach, referring to the strong competition that exists within the France team. For the moment, Akliouche is playing with the Espoirs, but Deschamps stressed that he is closely monitoring his performances. “It requires confirmation and maintaining it over time too,” he added, insisting on the importance of regularity to join the national team.

Place for youth

Despite the interest of the Fennecs, Akliouche’s international future remains unclear. The Blues coach clarified that the door to the France team was not closed for young talents like Akliouche and Enzo Millot, another promising player. “They are with the Espoirs selection, but we follow them regularly,” he said. Deschamps recently gave a chance to other young players, such as Michael Olise and Manu Koné, after their remarkable performances. However, for Akliouche, his selection with the A will depend on his ability to compete with the competition, to confirm his long-term potential, and to convince the Blues staff.
