Anthony Lopes may have regrets. The Lyon goalkeeper did not expect to be put on the shelf by coach Pierre Sage for this 2024-2025 season. In an interview with L’Équipe this Tuesday, October 1, the Franco-Portuguese goalkeeper regretted his choice of remaining at OL and having refused a great England team: “I had some possibilities very early in the transfer window, especially one, in a very big European team (Liverpool). Honestly, it was not my goal at that time to be number 2. But if it had happened at the end of. transfer window, perhaps my choice would have been different,” he confided. As a reminder, Anthony Lopes was demoted to 4th place in the goalkeeping hierarchy at the start of the season with OL, making him the fifth most capped player in the club’s history (489 matches in all competitions).
