Extended by ASSE then loaned immediately, Beres Owusu now plays under the yellow and red colors in National 1 (ndlr : Quevilly-Rouen). The new Stéphanois has already played three championship matches.
First flight with ASSE
Born in 2003, Beres Owusu joined the Stéphanois training center in October 2020 from AS Sarcelles. After two seasons with the U19, the defender joined the reserve of the Stéphanois club and obtained a trainee contract in June 2022. Performing under the tutelage of Razik Nedder, Owusu signed his first professional contract in December of the same year. The versatile defender even plays two Coupe de France matches in 2023 (Bourg-en-Bresse, Nîmes).
But the 21-year-old even played 90 minutes against Monaco on the occasion of the ten-time French champion club’s return to Ligue 1. Restricted by injuries, Olivier Dall’Oglio has indeed decided to trust the youth for the trip on the rock. At 1m85 tall, Beres Owusu is established on the right lane, not without making a bad copy. Solid defensively, the Stéphanois on the other hand showed some shortcomings on the offensive level.
“I am here to give the best of myself”
If Beres Owusu’s contract ends in July 2025, the Forez club has opted for an extension of Beres Owusu’s contract. Promising, the Stéphanois has in fact committed until 2027, plus an optional year, with his training club. Beres Owusu is immediately loaned to Quevilly-Rouen. Perfect opportunity to gain momentum with a team recently relegated to national 1.
At a press conference before the reception at Le Mans (1-2 defeat, in which the Stéphanois was expelled), Beres Owusu returned to the context of his signing for QRM.
“They made me understand to leave, yes and no, but it was everyone’s wish. From the club as well as from mine. to get some experience, some playing time.” He said. “We all agreed. And frankly, it went well on that. There is no worries. »
Beres Owusu subsequently returned to his ambition: “I’m here to get playing time. I try to do what I know how to do, to learn all the time, to always give the best of myself. This is the goal of my season here. And then we’ll see. »
“I try to bring a certain rage to the field”
Known for his calm temperament, Beres Owusu took advantage of the press conference to present his portrait to journalists. “I’m basically a pretty calm and reserved guy. On the field, I try to bring a certain rage, in terms of duels, of intensity. This is what I also try to inculcate a little in my partners. I’m a pretty decent recovery guy.
The QRM defender subsequently returned to his maturity. “ Frankly, I am aware of it. Afterwards, I know I can take even more. After all, I am still a young player. I’m here to learn. That’s why I’m here too. »
On Normandy soil for a little month, Beres Owusu now seems perfectly integrated into his new locker room. “I discovered a group, let’s say young, trained, also new. So, the integration has become quite easier since they arrive from another side. It was easy, we’ll say. And at the staff level too, they are there, caring, attentive, always caring. Honestly, it could only go well. »
