WebGirondins: How are you preparing for the reception of the Girondins de in your stadium?

Stéphane Montanier in the Talk: “It’s very complicated. We’re not used to receiving such teams. The prefecture is putting pressure on the organization. We have no security in the stadium, because we are an amateur club. It’s a lot of work for us. There are a lot of spectators, it’s a dimension other than ours. We sold 700 seats in 2 hours, while we usually have 500 people at each match. Our stadium can accommodate 2,500 people. We might be full.

“We are happy to host Bordeaux. But we have this weight on our shoulders which is spoiling the party”

Will Bordeaux supporters be able to be welcomed?

A priori, the prefecture took the decision to veto the travel of Girondins supporters. Our land is open, there are no barriers, you can come and go anywhere. We are required to have a number of authorized security agents and support from law enforcement. This has a cost. We have a staff of around twenty people, plus 5 authorized security agents. I don’t understand why there is such a level of security.

It’s because of the rivalry between the two groups of Girondins supporters

Bordeaux is brought to us in our championship, among amateurs who are not structured to receive such a flow of spectators. The federation should perhaps help us by taking charge of security, or by securing the stadiums. We are happy to host Bordeaux but we have this weight on our shoulders which is spoiling the party.

What is your club’s budget?

We closed last season with a budget of €750,000, this is our third season in N2. We have a family spirit.

Hosting the Girondins de Bordeaux is it an opportunity or a problem?

Both. Hosting such a team is extraordinary. We see it with the ticketing. Everyone is waiting for the Girondins de Bordeaux in . But our stadiums are not equipped, and we are not used to it. The balance is 50/50 on answering your question.

Sportingly, do you see an inequality there?

At first no, but when I see the number of federal contracts signed, there will quickly be a sporting gap. We have two federal contracts in Saumur.
