A major threat awaits ASSE before !

After winning their first match against , the Stéphanois did not see the light of day against . An 8-0 defeat which plunges ASSE into a crisis. The Greens know that they will quickly have to get back on their feet. This will perhaps involve points taken this Sunday from . Olivier Dall’Oglio will have to deal with a squad in which several players are under threat of suspension.

Too many mistakes made

79 is the number of fouls committed by ASSE since the start of the season. An average of 15.8 per match. The highest total in Ligue 1. The match against Nice is in the low average, since ASSE “only committed 13”. This probably shows the lack of aggressiveness of the Stéphanois who were overwhelmed in all areas of the game. It must be said that the match against greatly increases the Stéphanois average. During this match, 28 fouls were committed by the Greens. Despite the fact that they committed the most fouls in this championship, the Greens are far from being the team that receives the most cards in Ligue 1. With 11 yellow cards, they are 4th but tied with five clubs (, , Brest, , ).

Of the 11 yellow cards received since the start of the season, six of them were given to three players. Young Marwann Nzuzi, thrown into the deep end in Monaco and against Le Havre due to the absence of Yvann Maçon on the rock and the absence of a left-back against HAC, received two in as many games. Mathieu Cafaro, for his part, collected two in quick succession against Le Havre and Brest. Finally, new recruit Pierre Cornud was sanctioned for his first two games. In the Saint-Etienne left wing against Brest and Lille.

Gautier Larsonneur (against Le Havre), Dylan Batubinsika (against Brest), Yvann Maçon (against Brest) and Lamine Fomba (against Brest) and Pierre Ekwah (against Nice) are the five remaining players to have been cautioned.

Three ASSE players under threat of suspension

The direct consequence for Nzuzi, Cornud and Cafaro is that they find themselves under threat of suspension. Indeed, if a player collects three yellow cards in the space of 10 matches, the latter is automatically suspended for one match. For the first of them, the threat extends over the next five matches. Nevertheless, this risk should not particularly bother Olivier Dall’Oglio since the young defender is no longer called up with the pros on weekends since the recruitment of Pierre Cornud coupled with the return of Dennis Appiah. In addition, he was injured with the National 3 team last week during the 4-2 defeat against Thonon.

For the other two players, an absence would be most detrimental, especially that of Pierre Cornud. Indeed, while the versatile Yvann Maçon is in the infirmary for nearly two months, it is Léo Pétrot who finds himself in the hierarchy. Pierre Cornud is under threat during the next seven matches. But, his premature exit against Nice raises a question. Injury or choice of the coach? (it was 4-0 when he left the pitch)

Finally, an absence of Mathieu Cafaro would also be very damaging, he who is unshakeable in the mind of Olivier Dall’Oglio. The only scorer of the season for the Greens is under threat of an automatic suspension, for the next six matches.

If one of these players were to be cautioned this Sunday in Nice, they would then miss the reception of on October 19.
