Future Bellingham snubs Real Madrid

A nugget from Sunderland’s midfield, Englishman Chris Rigg is following in Jude Bellingham’s footsteps. Enough to put quite a few big clubs on the 17-year-old’s radar. Real Madrid are one of the main contenders but Rigg is said to have chosen another big club.

With its 24 clubs, often emblematic of English football, the Championship attracts football fans. But in recent years, it has also become a preferred reservoir for recruiters from major clubs. Real gems are taking their first steps and revealing their full potential in a very competitive championship. This was the case for Jude Bellingham at Birmingham City. At just 17, he had become one of the key players in the modest 20th out of 24 in the 2019-2020 season. His talent had not escaped Dortmund, who had snapped him up from under the noses of the Premier League giants.

Man United on pole for Chris Rigg

Needless to say, many clubs have been marked with a hot iron and they do not want to miss out on the future Bellingham this time. This expected player may well be Chris Rigg. The 17-year-old midfielder has been having a blast at Sunderland for several months. This season, he has contributed to the excellent start of the Black Cats led by former coach Régis Le Bris. Sunderland are 2nd in the championship and Rigg scored his first goal of the season on Saturday with a beautiful backheel against Middlesbrough. Real Madrid would like to add him to their collection of young English midfielders but they did not count on Manchester United.

According to the English media HITC, the Red Devils have taken the upper hand over their many rivals in this matter: Leipzig, Dortmund and Real Madrid. The Mancunian club is close to reaching an agreement with Chris Rigg and his entourage by next January at the latest. The young midfielder would then arrive at Manchester United for the following summer. In England, Rigg is considered the designated successor to Mancunian legends such as Bryan Robson or Roy Keane. Manchester United would strike a big blow, especially since the player’s value is likely to rise if he continues on his momentum and if Sunderland plays for promotion to the Premier League. A great potential revenge for Manchester United who narrowly missed out on Jude Bellingham in 2020.
