Why did the Niçois play with a blue jersey during the victory against the Greens?

On the occasion of the slap inflicted on Saint-Etienne, Friday evening at the Allianz Riviera, the OGC players wore an unusual blue jersey and not one with red and black stripes. A nod to the anniversary of the club, which celebrated its 120th anniversary.

Friday night will be historic for two reasons for OGC Nice: for the slap inflicted on Saint-Etienne, with this scathing 6-0 in the first half, and because the club was celebrating its 120th anniversary. The Niçois also took advantage of this anniversary to break in a rather special jersey.

Gone are the usual red and black stripes when Gym plays at home. This time, even at the Allianz Riviera, Franck Haise’s players played in a blue kit with black piping. This is actually the third kit of the Niçois this season, which pays homage to the first colours in the history of OGC Nice, before 1919.

Supporters invited to participate in the tribute

The new jersey was revealed just a few days ago, with the idea of celebrating the club’s anniversary this Friday. As on the other jerseys, it features a golden crown and a label with the years 1904, 2024 and the words “120 years”.

For the reception of Saint-Etienne, the club had even invited its supporters to come to the stadium with old OGC Nice jerseys. The Aiglons, on the field, honored this tribute jersey with a river score and a spectacular match. Enough, perhaps, to quickly see this blue and black tunic again.
