Training: PSG/Gérone (Youth League, 0-2), cold shower for the young Parisians

PSG challenged Girona on the occasion of the 1st day of the group stage of the Youth League and it was the Catalans who very logically won at the Campus PSG. An opening goal that crowned a controlled first half, a second in the second half when they were reduced to ten and the case was closed. The young Parisians, younger than their opponents, were willing but too imprecise and dominated in most areas of the game.

The match:

got into the game well and multiplied the attacks on the opposing goal, Camara’s cross was too long (3rd). A free kick from the side was given to PSG but it was cleared in two stages (6th). Girona reacted with the same kind of actions and finally seemed to get their match going, with Kim on the right side (7th). After a difficult start, The Spaniards logically opened the scoring: a good deep pass to the left midfielder Garcia who dribbles past the goalkeeper, he crosses in front of the line and Arango pushes into the back of the net (0-1, 11th).

The goal does not change the face of the game, on the contrary, and the Spaniards still recover the ball, always very high on the pitch which creates danger (15th). PSG is finally pressing on the goal but Girona goes on the counter and Diaby succeeds in a big return in the surface (17th). On an axial free kick, Sangaré tries his luck but it goes over (20th). Kim sends a big shot from 20m and Laurendon pushes back as best he can (22nd)! Short stoppage of play, El Hannach and a Spaniard are on the ground (25th). He comes back and intercepts a ball to launch an attack but Girona clears (27th).

The game kept the same physiognomy: Girona dominated and was better with the ball while Paris struggled, with the exception of a few individual initiatives (31st). PSG was very hampered and Diaby offered a corner due to the pressure, but it came to nothing (39th). Paris had a very good opportunity on a high press, Sangaré served Camara who impaled himself on the defense (42nd)… Arango sent a superb shot from 18m that Laurendon pushed back but he was offside at the start (43rd). Launched deep slightly on the right side, Arango looks for the skylight but doesn’t catch it (44th)! Like their half-time, PSG wastes a final possession (45th+5).

The match resumes without changes but with a great opportunity for the opposition: Coromina tries a curled shot from 18m over the top (47th). Paris responds with a great quick attack but Camara is blocked (48th). Paris has started this second half better and forces Girona to defend. The game is now balanced but the defenses still dominate the attacks (53rd). Ly tries his luck, it is blocked and Sangaré calls on the goalkeeper again in the process, without success (55th).

Suarez is coaching PSG and launches Abo El Nay, who is booked straight away (59th). Paris has a first big chance: Ly crosses but it’s blocked, Khafi takes it and it’s just wide (62nd)! PSG pushes very hard, Ly works on the right side and crosses, Abo El Nay is in front of the surface, controls and shoots but the goalkeeper pushes back in an incredible way (63rd)! On a counter, Cordier escapes and is mowed down by Badia, logical red (65th)!

Paris has the wind in its sails and a little half an hour to equalize at 11 against 10, the opposing goalkeeper pushes back an off-center free kick in a very limited way (68th). El Hannach continues to sound the charge on the right side and obtains a corner: Girona trembles but then clears (70th). Sangaré is found in the area and collapses on contact but the referee does not whistle (73rd). PSG lay siege but Girona hurts: on a 35m axial free kick, captain Garcia appears in front of Laurendon and beats him with a header (0-2, 76th)!

This goal hurts PSG a lot, who try to get back into it but Ayari, who has just come on, sends a cross that is easily caught (79th). While Paris pushes to reduce the gap, it is Kim who strikes, wide (85th). The Spanish goalkeeper comes out on crosses and recovers a nice foul (87th). PSG pushes at the end of the match but it is too imprecise and the game is broken up by fouls (92nd). Paris will not score and logically loses.
