ASSE is about to complete its first recruit!

After a rather discreet start to the winter transfer window, to say the least, AS Saint-Étienne is preparing to welcome a sizable reinforcement. Looking for a right back, the Greens are about to welcome a player who is considered a great hope in his country. A decisive arrival in order to approach a second part of the season which will see ASSE fighting to remain in Ligue 1.

Two days ago, we reported ASSE's interest in Ognjen Mimović. The first information appeared a few days ago in the Serbian press. The media Mozzart Sport, renowned for its reliability, announced that the player was very close to joining Forez. The transfer, valued at 5.5 million euros with 2.5 million bonuses (or 6+2 depending on the sources), demonstrates the ambition of the Saint-Etienne leaders, ready to invest heavily to strengthen the workforce.

However, Red Star wishes to keep its player until the last Champions League match of the group stage, on January 29, against Young Boys Bern. Although already eliminated from the competition, the Serbian team is aiming for a victory to pocket the 2.1 million euros promised to the winner. It is therefore at the end of this meeting that Mimović could finally settle down in Saint-Étienne.

Mimovic: A Serbian hopeful full of talent!

Born on August 17, 2004, Ognjen Mimović has established himself as a very important part of Red Star, despite his young age. Serbian U21 international, he showed strong technical and physical qualities which attracted the attention of recruiters. Measuring 1.85 m, he has an interesting size for this right back who combines athletic power and speed.

In terms of qualities, we presented this young player to you a few days ago as well.

Mimović stands out for the precision of his passes and his crosses, often decisive, as well as his offensive versatility, which allows him to double up on the wing or insert himself into spaces to energize the game. Equipped with With great lucidity, he generally opts for simple and effective solutions. However, he still needs to improve in some areas, including his defensive aerial play, the intensity of his returns and his ability to eliminate one-on-one through dribbling.

With a squad which has sometimes shown its limits in this first half of the season, the arrival of Mimović could provide solutions in a suffering sector. It would also offer an additional option to coach Eirik Horneland. This recruitment is also part of a strategy focused on the future, focusing on promising young talents capable of remaining in the long term.

A few days before a signing for ASSE?

Unless there is a change in the situation and as Le Progrès confirms, Ognjen Mimović should become a Stéphanois in the coming days. Negotiations, well advanced, are only waiting for the end of Red Star's European obligations to be concluded. If his arrival is confirmed, it will mark a significant boost for the ASSE winter transfer window.

For the Greens, such a transfer would also be a strong signal. After several transfer windows marked by financial prudence, ASSE seems ready, with Kilmer, to invest to give itself the means to achieve its ambitions. By spending nearly 8 million euros for a 20-year-old player, the club shows that it can be a strong player during this transfer window.

If Ognjen Mimović has the qualities to win in Ligue 1, his adaptation will be closely observed. Going from the Serbian Superliga to the French championship represents a real challenge, both physically and tactically. However, everything suggests that he could quickly integrate into the French championship. All that remains is to initial his contract with ASSE…
