After the controversy over the penalty not awarded to OM during the match against Strasbourg for a potential foul by Guéla Doué on Jonathan Rowe at the end of the match, the Refereeing Department (DA) took a strong decision by supporting the arbitration by Bastien Dechepy, as explained by Provence.
While the Marseille leaders, notably Pablo Longoria who spoke publicly on DAZN, did not hide their anger, the DA wanted to calm the situation by providing a detailed explanation. Indeed, after the incident on Jonathan Rowe in the Strasbourg area, which sparked debates on social networks, the DA's analysis, in consultation with video assistance, concluded that there was no manifest error. Guéla Doué's push on Rowe's shoulder was not considered sufficient to cause a penalty, Dechepy believing that the Marseille player amplified the fall.
The sound recording of the exchanges sent to OM
To prove its transparency and good faith, the Refereeing Department even sent the sound recording of the incident to OM, so that the club could verify this analysis. Although explanations often come after the fact, as Amaury Delerue, referee manager, explains to the regional daily, the objective remains to maintain consistency and uniformity in decisions.
