The 2000s were still another madness in US rap.
If today, we are used to seeing US rappers walking around with weapons, without hesitating to fire, there was a time when guys had a little more balls in the rap game, and didn't hesitate not having to come face to face to beat each other up, without needing to take out your gun to play tough. If we take a guy like 50 Cent, for example, it's no coincidence that he was shot 9 times at the start of his career: the guy was one hell of a fighter difficult to pick up. Tony Yayo, ex-member of G-Unit, still remembers the crazy days of the clash with Ja Rule.
The biggest left in Queens?
50 Cent looked awesome in the 2000s, and not just looked: he was very solid. Guest for the podcast “Million Dollaz Worth Of Game”, his former colleague Tony Yayo wanted to tell his version of the legendary fight that took place between 50 Cent and Ja Rulewhen the clash between the two artists was at its peak. While Ja has always claimed that he had the upper hand over 50 Cent, Tony doesn't have the same memory at all:
Fifty took down Ja Rule in Atlanta. Fif knocked out this guy. We were at the same hotel. I was in the building. The guys tried to confront 50 Cent. Baw! Fifty made him stone cold. He's a left-hander, that's why Fif' knocked out all the guys in the hood, because he's left-handed.
And Tony Yayo doesn't stop there, delivering the rest of this rather tasty anecdote:
-Ja Rule screamed. His eye quickly began to swell. So we enter the elevator and that's when 50 Cent shows us the chain that can be seen in the music video for “Wanksta”. He tells us: 'look what I found'. So he hit him good, and then he ripped off his chain.
A fight which would therefore have taken place in an Atlanta hotel in 2000. The version told by Tony Yayo seems to have been further confirmed by other witnesses to the scene, although Ja Rule continues to maintain his own version. We may never know the truth, but this story of Fifty, the left-hander who sleeps with everyone, clearly helped build the legend around the rapper!
