A rollercoaster ride at ASSE, without winning at Guingamp afterwards. Then back to square one. Victor Lobry has failed to find a project in which to flourish since his departure from Pau in July 2022. But the midfielder could have found a base during the winter transfer window.
A mixed passage at ASSE
Particularly appreciated in Ligue 2 thanks to his performances in the Pyrenees, Victor Lobry logically joined the project initiated by Laurent Batlles. A single objective: promotion to the elite of the ten-time French champion club. But if the debut of the native of Soissons was satisfactory, Lobry freely leaves the club in January 2024. Without managing to convince Olivier Dall'Oglio, the midfielder only played 18 minutes under the orders of the Cévennes coach.
Since then, after a short freelance period in Guingamp (6 months), Victor Lobry is free from any contract, at the age of 29.
Victor Lobry testifies, at the microphone of MaLigue2: When I landed in Guingamp, I was really happy. If the choice of last January had to be made again, I would do the same. I play, I perform. This is perhaps my most consistent six months of my career in Ligue 2. The negotiations are starting, we are almost at the end. We almost all agree and then there is the story of TV rights. The club tells me that the proposal is no longer on the agenda: the budgets are no longer the same.”
-Rebound in Ligue 2 at the transfer window?
The midfielder signed with Amiens SC. “Originally from Soissons, Victor Lobry returns to Picardy to take on a new challenge under the colors of Amiens SC. Versatile in the midfield, he brings us his qualities and his experience for the next 18 months.”
