Doubs. Professor threatened with death after showing Charlie Hebdo caricatures

A history and geography teacher was threatened with death by a student in a college in , reports The Republican East.

It all started on January 8. As part of a civic education course, and the day after the 10th anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo attack, the teacher presented three caricatures published by the satirical newspaper. “It can’t be done,” a 13-year-old student then intervened.

A “high school student is going to come and kill you”

The matter could have ended there. Except that a week later, on January 16, the teenager went to see the teacher after class and outright threatened him: a “high school student is going to come and kill you because you showed caricatures,” she declared.

After the assassination of Samuel Paty and Domimnique Bernard, this type of threat should not be taken lightly. The teacher therefore notified his superiors and the young girl was interviewed the next day, as part of police custody.

A “joke”

The teenager notably defended herself by explaining that she had not directly threatened the teacher, and that it was a “joke”. The student's mother was also interviewed. The teenager was temporarily excluded from school. A disciplinary council will soon rule on his fate.
