Hakimi speaks out for the first time on the rape accusation against him

Sparkling since the start of the season with Saint-Germain, Achraf Hakimi has managed to concentrate on his sporting performances. In a video interview broadcast this Tuesday, the Moroccan full-back addressed for the first time the accusation of rape to which he has been the subject for approximately two years.

An extra-sporting affair which does not seem to impact his performance. Sparkling with the ball since the start of the season with PSG, Achraf Hakimi is still accused of rape and indicted since March 2023. The Moroccan defender, for his part, counter-attacked by launching a procedure and denounced an attempted racketeering against him . After almost two years, and a confrontation with the complainant in December 2023, the Atlas Lions star publicly addressed this matter for the first time.

“I'm going to be honest about this. This is the first time I've talked about it publicly with anyone. Because since it happened two years ago, I haven't said anything on that,” said the right-back in a video broadcast this Tuesday on Anas Bukhash’s YouTube channel. “It’s in the hands of justice. It’s the best way to clarify things.”

PSG player Achraf Hakimi indicted for rape

Hakimi sees it as a consequence of fame

Asked what he had learned from this whole story, Achraf Hakimi chose to emphasize the backlash of celebrity.

“The truth is that, when you are successful and things go well, you become an easy target for certain people,” the Moroccan once again told his interlocutor. “And it taught me that you can't trust a lot of people around you. When we put this matter in the hands of justice, we saw that it was just a way of blackmailing against me.”

Hakimi confident about the outcome of the procedure

Still firm in his denial of the accusations against him, Achraf Hakimi insisted on his version of the facts and a possible extortion attempt against him.

“They wanted to blackmail me and that's why we filed a complaint and it's going well. The justice system handled things rather well. So, we're in a process that's going well and the justice system has rather handled things well”, finally insisted the PSG defender. “And it will be resolved soon. The whole truth will be out and we can talk more about it.”

Before concluding: “But it taught me to trust a tighter circle of people than what I had, not to trust too many people and that you had to be careful in this world.”
