The soap opera of the transfer ofAbdukodir Khusanovthe promising Uzbek defender of RC Lensseems to be coming to an end. After only a year and a half in Artois, the player 20 ans is about to join the ranks of Manchester Cityone of the leaders of the Premier League.
A record offer of 50 million euros
According to information from Foot Marketthe English club would have transmitted to RC Lens an astronomical offer of 50 million eurosbonus included, to secure the services of the young defender. A record sum which should satisfy the financial requirements of Lensois leaders, eager to replenish their coffers this winter. The two clubs have already reached a total agreement for this highly coveted transfer. Khusanov should thus sign a long-term contract with the Cityzensuntil 2030.
An imminent departure despite denials
Although the coach Will Still tried to temporize by evoking a “disease” to justify Khusanov’s absence from training this morning, the warning signs of an imminent departure are multiplying. The Uzbek international was removed from the group and the negotiations seem to have reached their final stage, as his coach admitted: “We know that negotiations are underway, that things are moving, that there is wind in Kodir’s wings. We are not fooled.”
A sporting loss but a financial blow
If the departure of one of their most promising players undeniably constitutes a hard sporting blow for RC Lensthe sale of Khusanov also represents a tremendous financial opportunity. The 50 million euros collected will allow the Artesian club to strengthen itself and continue its progress in Ligue 1. Will Still, despite the disappointment, says he “proud to have been able to contribute to evolution” of his ex-protege.
