Real Madrid released a video of three players including Kylian Mbappé reminiscing about memories in the club's colors. The French striker notably reacted in a photo of Madrid's victory against PSG in 2022.
Real Madrid brought together Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde and Kylian Mbappé in a commercial video in collaboration with one of its partners. The three players were each invited to print photos of their best memories in the colors of the Madrid club. For Kylian Mbappé, the choice was quite limited just six months after his arrival at the club, free following his departure from PSG. The striker chose his first match played and won in the European Super Cup against Atalanta Bergamo (2-0), on August 14, 2024. He scored and won his first title in Spain.
The painful memory of the 2022 “comeback”
“It’s my first match, I scored my first goal and I won my first title with Real. A dream debut,” he commented before printing the photo and placing it on a wall decorated with the club's victories. One of the photos also caught his mind: that of Real Madrid's coronation in the 2022 Champions League. “I don't like this year too much because I was in Paris and we played against them”, smiles the champion of the world 2018, whose memories of the Parisian failure remain well anchored.
Winner 1-0 in the first leg in the round of 16 of the Champions League thanks to a goal from Mbappé, PSG thought they had done the hardest part by opening the score in the return (by Mbappé again 0-1) before Real did not reverse everything and qualified for the next round thanks to a hat-trick from Karim Benzema (3-1). A few weeks later, the Merangues won a new title in the competition after two new comebacks.
Kylian Mbappé knows all this well and recalls his appetite for Real's past. “You always have to know the history of the club, know where you are, because, when you look at all that, you see a lot of people who have won a lot of titles and it's our turn, we have to win too,” adds he says in the video.
