Bruno Irles: “If there is a departure, that means that we will be given money so there will be a little more money to convince one or two others to come”

At a press conference after Bordeaux-Rennes, the coach of the Girondins de Bordeaux, Bruno Irlesconfirmed that he and John Williams were working on winter recruiting.

“What I want, and what we want with John, is to bring competition to all positions. There are positions today where we don't necessarily have one. Oh yes, yes, we targeted the positions. I'm not going to detail them with you (laughs), but yes, we targeted profiles, sectors… It's quite precise. Even if we are in the fourth division, we are quite specific about what we want. Like tonight against Rennes, tactically, it was precise, and they responded. We know exactly what we want.”

There is also the possibility of having departures.

“That’s possible too. Not necessarily a lot because we don't have a lot of players (laughs). A player like Soufiane Bahassa can be called upon, that's for sure, there is this economic aspect like you had in Ligue 1 or Ligue 2. There is always this aspect. Obviously, I want to help the players progress, and I am happy if Soufiane is put forward. It could be other players in the squad who are highlighted. But that's part of the package. We have to anticipate, but if there is a departure, that means that we will be given money so there will be a little more money to convince one or two others to come. But this is part of the hazards, and they are anticipated.”
