[CdF] The Girondins4Ever Tops-Flops after -

This Sunday, December 22, 2024, the
Girondins de played in the 1/32nd finals of the French Cup at home against the club Stade Rennais. The meeting was played at
Stade Matmut Atlantique – René Gallice.

The players of Bruno Irles lost 4 goals to 1, despite Soufiane Bahassa opening the score. So it's over for the Coupe de . We will have to concentrate on the championship.

TOPS

Soufiane Bahassa : The Bordeaux winger is one of the men in form in this first part of the season. His first period will prove it. Very leggy, he stood out in the 18th minute by volleying a ball, thus deceiving Gallon. Beyond this magnificent goal, he brought danger, combined well with Merdji, Trichard and Mutyaba. His ball catches were interesting and he could even have scored a double if Trichard had not been flagged offside at the start of the action. His exit in the 59th minute, just after ' second goal, also coincided with Bordeaux's decline.

Jean Grillot : The young central defender found a starting place in central defense, alongside captain Cédric Yambéré. He once again demonstrated great maturity in reading the game, in his cool-headed interceptions. He again made two decisive sliding tackles and headers. With the ball at his feet too, even under pressure, he was fair. The only downside was a yellow card for a perhaps avoidable fault. A great performance despite the score.

Driss Trichardt: The left side also showed a good level against Rennes. Very lively in the first period, he often combined and brought the number offensively. His understanding with Bahassa is undeniable. Defensively he was not often put in danger. He recovered the armband in the second half.

Amadou Diallo's entry:
He was a substitute at kick-off, Bruno Irles preferring Travis Mutyaba. Ugandan has, it is true, shown some good things before giving way to English. But his entry was not convincing. A situation in 45 minutes and few good balls exploited. It is in this type of meeting that we can see that he is a step below Mutyaba and Bahassa. We will have to improve on our ball retention and the quality of finishing.

Djibril Diaw's entry: The Bordeaux coach decided to rotate by taking out his captain Yambéré at half-time, for Diaw. The last qualifier at the club could not contain Kalimuendo in this second half. Speeded up and absent from marking, he had a complicated half of the match. He is not the only one to blame, but it comes at the wrong time, a week after his average performance in the championship.

The second period: The Bordeaux team, although dominated, were still in contact with Rennes at the break and hopes were still high (1-1). Unfortunately the rotation started by Bruno Irles, to preserve his players and concentrate on the championship, had a negative effect on the rest of the match. Less offensive animation, a more struggling midfielder and a revamped defense got the better of hopes. The Girondins lost 4-1, the score was heavy compared to what we saw in the first 45 minutes.
