LOSC concluded its first part of the season with a success (0-1) in Rouen on Friday. The results are, to date, very positive in the North, even if everything still needs to be confirmed.
Traveling to Rouen, in hostile territory, LOSC played the 26th meeting of its season, adding the Ligue 1 games to those of the Champions League, while adding this final meeting in the Coupe de France. In total, the Mastiffs scored 14 victories, against 8 draws and 4 small defeats. These were surprisingly recorded over a very short period, from August 28 to September 17, and consecutively. They also scored 42 goals, compared to 26 the other way around. This offensive efficiency is synonymous with fourth place in the championship, eighth position on the European scene and the round of 16 in the Coupe de France.
“Our results are very positivejudged Aïssa Mandi this Friday, following the success pocketed in Rouen on the occasion of LOSC's entry into the competition in the cup. There has been a lot of seriousness and a lot of consistency since the start of the season. I am very satisfied. We had a slightly more difficult period at the beginning of September (4 consecutive defeats). But we were able to show character, raise our heads with reference matches and a lot of regularity. It’s a very good result”welcomed the Algerian international, summer recruit perfectly integrated into the Lille squad.
“It’s in the end that it all counts”
A few moments earlier, Bruno Genesio had obviously demonstrated more neutrality: “With a little more control, we could have had four more points this season. I'm thinking of Nice (2-2) and Montpellier (2-2). For me, these are the two matches in which we wasted the opportunity to take additional points”he always regrets.
The black spots mentioned, make way for the splinters: “Our series (17 consecutive games without a loss) demonstrates that the team is in constant progress, that it is competitive and that it has character because, in certain matches, we had to come back to the score. This also shows that there are a lot of individual and collective qualities in this group, even with those absent. We showed a team game that looked like what I was asking for, a game that I really like. […] Over 26 matches, I think we were consistent overall. We showed more beautiful things than the oppositelaunched Bruno Genesio, concluding with nuance. For the moment, the results are good, but it is above all at the end that we do the accounts. »
Bruno Genesio, who succeeded Paulo Fonseca in June, will meet his men in 2025, who still have major challenges to overcome. The resumption is scheduled for December 30 with, already, the reception of FC Nantes (04/01) in everyone's mind.
