Romain Ferrierformer technical director of the training center and former coach of the U17 Nationals
Girondins de Bordeaux, for Girondins4Ever and before the match against Stade Rennaisreturned to the fact that he had helped build a U18 Regional 1 team before leaving the club. We asked him if he had received an offer to stay.
« It's true that there was this possibility of leaving again, but I didn't have it because somewhere there is also an economic factor. I was technical director of a center which closed and responsible for the U17 Nationals who withdrew overall. So it’s certain that the shortcut is quickly made. Afterwards, we still started working on the U18 R1 team. We were the three coaches, the U18 R1 coach Jimmy Briand, Sylvain Blaquart coach of the U19s and me, coach of the U17 Nationals. We still continued to try to sustain it because the club needed this team. We stabilized it and the educators also did a real job to find players. Here too we don't know everything but it's very complicated to find players. If everyone is already taken? And we are also struck by the law of transfer so we cannot have more than one player transferred outside the period. There we were really out of period, that too we have to be aware of, so we had to try to understand a little how we could recover players free from any transfer. All of this took a lot of time and energy. »
Have you had any requests?
« I had been asked at the start but it was not the time. With the responsibilities we all had, I couldn't see myself saying 'Thank you for everything, come on chao!' No, no… With regard to boys already, it was impossible! With regard to parents, families it is not possible to leave… From the moment that it was there, the job was done, yes there we started to think about ourselves but the season was launched. We know how things go… There are times, there may be adjustments during the year, but hey, the test we passed… We still need a little break and then we'll see. »
