After a particularly active summer with the arrival of numerous recruits, Olympique de Marseille is preparing to experience an equally lively winter transfer window, but this time in the direction of departures. Pablo Longoria, president of OM, confirmed the need to reduce the workforce to balance the club’s accounts and free up space for possible reinforcements.
Strategic departures in preparation
During a recent press conference, Longoria explained that it was imperative to make decisions regarding players lacking playing time. “We have to make smart moves. This will improve our flexibility in recruiting,” he declared. According to available information, up to six players could leave the club this winter.
The players affected by this big clean-up
Among the candidates for departure, Chancel Mbemba, already ruled out since last summer, seems to be at the top of the list. Bamo Meïté, Amir Murillo, Emran Soglo, François-Régis Mughe and even Amine Harit could also be pushed out. These departures would aim to reduce the payroll while generating the income necessary for possible arrivals.
The challenge of financial and sporting balance
At the same time, OM continues to explore the market to strengthen certain key positions. If names like Arthur Melo or Tyler Dibling are circulating, the objective remains to build a competitive workforce while respecting economic constraints. This winter transfer window therefore promises to be crucial for the Marseille club, which will have to juggle between sporting ambition and budgetary rigor.
