Moroccan PSG defender Achraf Hakimi was a candidate for a prestigious distinction. In vain.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) delivered its verdict this Monday on the winners of the year 2024. Contender for the title of best African player of the year, Achraf Hakimi, the full-back of the PSGdid not win the prize.
The Moroccan international was beaten in the votes by Dortmund's Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy but also and above all by Atalanta's Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman, winner of the famous honorary trophy.
Finalist of the CAN with the Super Eagles, then beaten by Ivory Coast (2-1), the Bergamo stood out in the eyes of the world by scoring a hat-trick in the last final of the Europa League – final won 3-0 by the Dea at the expense of a then invincible Bayer Leverkusen.
A distinguished Monegasque
Also note the prize awarded to Monegasque and former Messin Lamine Camara, best young player of the year 2024. The Ivorian Elephants, African champions, were also honored. Logically.
