Quite rare in Ligue 1 but which could unfortunately become usual, the match between PSG and OL was interrupted for a few moments due to insulting chants from Parisian supporters.
At the heart of the second half, the Paris Saint-Germain supporters could have undermined their team, which had been playing a very good match so far and was leading 2-1 at this point in the game. After more than five minutes of insulting chants against Olympique Lyonnais heard in Virage Auteuil, the LFP delegate called Benoit Bastien to interrupt the game. The Parisian players and first of all captain Achraf Hakimi were then asked to make the supporters understand that it was in their interest to calm down the most angry supporters. Hakimi and Vitinha, among others, were at the foot of Virage Auteuil to get the message across.
The match was able to resume and this time anti-LFP and pro-Ultras chants broke out. But among the players, all this doesn't make anyone laugh, as Ousmane Dembélé confided in the mixed zone after PSG's victory during this poster closing the 15th day of Ligue 1. “These are chants that are difficult to hear in stadiums. I totally understand that the match is stopped” explained the Parisian striker, who sometimes has the image in the press of a fairly immature player but who rightly surprised everyone by giving this speech full of wisdom after the match between Lyon and Paris.
Chants that disturb players
A priori, these insulting songs which are sometimes considered by the authorities as racist or homophobic songs depending on the lyrics only make those who sing in the stands laugh. Because despite a sporting rivalry on the field, the players obviously have no desire to hear insults for several minutes against opposing players. However, it is not certain that this speech from Ousmane Dembélé really changes mentalities, whether at PSG or elsewhere.
