Opposed to a big game this Saturday, with Olympique de Marseille, LOSC bared its fangs and never gave up, thus conceding a draw in hostile territory. This is a far from negative result.
In this clash at the top of the table, Roberto de Zerbi's men initially showed formidable efficiency, when LOSC lost its means with each incursion into the area. Thus, while Jonathan David and Edon Zhegrova (8′, 11′, 25′) missed golden opportunities, Marseille full-back Quentin Merlin scored his first goal in his new colors (17′). It was the first ball touched in the area by the Olympians, unlike the Mastiffs who had already obtained around fifteen…
LOSC was less pressing during the second act and, with the exception of a new attempt from Jonathan David, it was the Marseillais who benefited from a strong moment after returning from the locker room. This was symbolized by an incursion from Neal Maupay, whose shot hit the post of Lucas Chevalier (57'). However, Olympique de Marseille gradually retreated and offered space to the Mastiffs who pushed again and again. This new dynamic benefited Lille who, through a header from Bafodé Diakité (87′) on a free kick from Cabella, obtained a logical equalizer (1-1). The end of the match was then marked by multiple fouls, including a red received by Pol Lirola for a tackle on the shin of André Gomes (90+4′).

This draw, which could have gone from a missed opportunity to a small drop in the ranking, contributed to the general status quo of the first part of the table. LOSC (4th, 27 pts) even takes a point from OL (5th, 25 pts), defeated by PSG. For the rest, the clubs from second to eighth place all shared the points, regardless of the opponent, and therefore remain stuck in their initial position for the end of year celebrations.
It is at the bottom of the ranking that certain dynamics were confirmed. Le Havre (17th), ASSE (16th), Angers (15th) and Nantes (14th, 14 pts) lost in turn and let Strasbourg (13th, 17 pts), Rennes (12th), Brest escape (11th) and Toulouse (9th). The fight for survival is tightening.
