Some players have controversies that stick to their skin, particularly regarding their age. This is the case of Chancel Mbemba (OM) but also of Nice summer transfer window recruit Youssoufa Moukoko.
Loaned by Borussia Dortmund to OGC Nice during the summer transfer window, Youssoufa Moukoko has not really made an impression so far on the Côte d'Azur. Author of only two goals in Ligue 1, the German striker is more talked about for the controversies linked to his age. Officially, Youssoufa Moukoko is 20 years old but this age is contested… by his father Joseph Moukoko. In remarks given to Bildthe father of the Nice striker provided disturbing details on the exact age of the player loaned by Borussia Dortmund to Nice.
Moukoko would actually be 24 years old
“Youssoufa obtained a false birth certificate in Yaoundé. With that, I went to the embassy and got him a passport, then took him to Germany as my son. He was actually born on July 19, 2000. We made him four years younger. Now he was born on November 20, 2004. My wife was employed by an agency that works for the BVB sponsor Evonik, and I was employed directly by the BVB. So we received money every month. We didn't work. That’s how we got the money” revealed Joseph Moukoko in revelations which are causing a lot of noise in Germany, particularly among supporters and observers of Borussia Dortmund.
An incredible controversy which does not directly concern OGC Nice since the German striker is only on loan from BVB. But the words of Youssoufa Moukoko's father may surprise more than one person on the Côte d'Azur.
