Girondins4Ever – Goodbye, “Matmut Atlantique”

It has been in discussions and possible negotiations for a few months now, but the Matmut company has decided not to renew the naming contract linked to the Girondins de stadium, as reported by Bleu .

After nearly 10 years of partnership, the name of the “Grand Stade”, the “Matmut Atlantique”, will disappear in July 2025. From now on, we will have to see the candidates for the continuation of this naming.

“After 10 seasons together, Matmut announced to SBA 18 months before the contract expired that its support would end at the end of the 2024-2025 season. The situation of the stadium and in particular the absence of consistent recurring visibility, did not make it possible to construct a draft new agreement satisfactory for the parties” (press release)

It will indeed be necessary to find a new commercial name so as not to further jeopardize the situation of the manager,
SBAwhich has been sounding the alarm for several months. In fact, the insurance company paid 2 million euros per year for the speaker to benefit from its brand. The downgrading of the Girondins de Bordeaux, who now play in National 2, has not helped either.

Following a popular vote, the South turn had indeed taken the lead several years ago, since the
Ultramarines call the enclosure the “René Gallice” stadium.
