During a long interview given to RMC SportGerónimo Rulli expressed his enthusiasm for playing for OM: “Playing here, in Marseille, having more than 60,000 people pushing you, it’s a privilege. If the fans are happy that I represent this club as a goalkeeper, I am the happiest. It's rewarding, it gives me a lot of recognition and it's additional motivation to continue giving everything. »
“It was one of my best decisions”
Gerónimo Rulli refuses to see the fervor at the Orange Vélodrome stadium as pressure: “It's not fear, it's a lot of respect for this stadium but in the good sense of the word. It's impressive, actually. When we play at the Vélodrome, we want to finish the match by celebrating a victory with a lap of honor, to go see each corner and sing with the supporters. This stadium gives you a lot of energy and thrills. (…) We must never forget that we are a relatively young team. We come from different clubs, each with their own character and qualities, and here we experience football like nowhere else. It may therefore take a little time to adapt. I think that from now on, and since this match against Monaco, everything will go better and better at the Vélodrome”he continued.
The former Ajax Amsterdam player does not regret his choice to come: “Every day, when I get up, I talk about it with my wife and with my son, even if he is not necessarily at an age to give his opinion (smile). It was one of my best decisions. When Roberto De Zerbi called and contacted me during the Olympic Games, I did not hesitate to come and sign here in Marseille. The more the days pass, the happier I feel in this club and in this city, with these supporters and these teammates. »
