On Forever and at the end of the Coupe de France match between the Girondins de Bordeaux and Les Herbiers (2-0), the Bordeaux coach
Bruno Irles was asked about the new recruit in his staff, the goalkeeper coach Christian
Potel.
Former professional goalkeeper and trainer, Christian Potel is 49 years old. Born on December 16, 1973 in Montfermeil, he began his professional career at AS Cannes, although he did not have the opportunity to play matches in the first division there. He then played with clubs like Noisy-le-Sec and Boulogne, or even Libourne, where he accumulated 101 appearances. He is the replacement of Franck Chauminfrom which the club separated during the last major social plan. Bruno Irles’ words:
“It's not the black cat because if we had lost tonight, there would have been a little bit of pressure for him (laughs). Yes, we have someone working. We had Franck (Chaumain), we were happy with Franck… There, we have Christian. In football, it's not like rugby. In rugby, you have one per line, we don't know if that will happen one day even if we have Dado for the attackers (smile). But it's true that the goalkeeper position is very specific, and we need someone. I need someone capable of taking care of it in complementarity with me, with what I do. But we’re happy he’s here.”
