Attentive to the market in Italy, Olympique de is interested in Juventus Turin midfielder Nicolo Fagioli. The Marseille club has already taken the first step towards the Italian international, contacted by coach Roberto De Zerbi in person.

This winter, Olympique de Marseille will not only strengthen its defense. Our colleagues from L'Equipe revealed on Friday the wish of Roberto De Zerbi who is awaiting the arrivals of a right back and two central defenders. But Franck McCourt's club is also working to strengthen its midfield. The resident of the Vélodrome is indeed one of the courtiers of Nicolo Fagioli (23 years old).

Lacking playing time under the orders of Thiago Motta (6 starts this season in all competitions), the Juventus Turin midfielder is notably in the sights of Naples and Saint-Germain. But according to Italian journalist Giovani Albanese, it is Olympique de Marseille which has taken the lead on this issue. Perhaps thanks to Roberto De Zerbi. Because for its part, Corriere dello Sport tells us that the Olympian coach has already spoken with Nicolo Fagioli. These were the first exchanges between the Marseille club and the Italian international, who can be considered an important target given the technician's involvement.

OM ready to bet big

We can guess that the price asked by Juventus Turin did not cool down Olympique de Marseille. The Old Lady, however, has no intention of selling off her player trained at the club. To transfer its midfielder under contract until 2028, the Serie A giant would require between 25 and 30 million euros, a huge investment for Marseille management who may have planned to finance this operation with sales. In any case, the arrival of a player of the caliber of Nicolo Fagioli would allow Roberto de Zerbi to line up a high-level trio with Adrien Rabiot and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the middle.
