Stade Rennes – Saint-Etienne: SRFC notes
Stade Rennais largely won against Saint-Etienne, quickly reduced to 10. Here are the scores of Rennais, out of 10.
Mandanda: 6
Saved by his post (17th), he then never had to really intervene, and suffered no shots on target. A quiet match
Hateboer : 6
A meeting in serenity, with little worry on his side, and with time to restart properly. A calm match.
Ostigard : 6
Just like Hateboer, he had a masterful match, well placed and sometimes dangerous on Rennes corners.
Faye : 5
Errors that could have been costly, such as a poor judgment of trajectory (17th), then a push on Cafaro before Rennes' first goal, and finally a shirt pulling at the start of the second period before a good tackle. A meeting down to the wire, but no goal scored by Rennes.
Assignon : 5
Going offensively, a shot pushed back (12th), but technical inaccuracies as they approached the opponent's area. Defensively sometimes not very focused, even if the danger did not come much from his side.
Replaced by Gomez 20 minutes from time, however more complicated for the Colombian.
Nagida: 5
He's also strong offensively, ready to bring in the numbers, and overall good in his match, even if he could have caused a penalty at the start of the match (29th).
Replaced by Truffert at the hour mark, also in the projection, and little worried defensively against an ASSe at 10 against 11.
James : 7
First start and second time we still wonder why he didn't come off the bench before this season. Just technically, ready to air the game, he managed in 6, cutting Saint-Etienne's passes well, and did not have to project himself too much. A strike which causes the penalty for Rennes' first goal.
Matusiwa: 6
Also at ease in midfield alongside his Welsh friend, he was fair and calm, with more freedom to play his game.
Replaced by Kamara for the last 20 minutes.
Blas : 8
Aligned this time from the start, he shined throughout the match with his choices, his technical quality, and his offerings. Double decisive passer for Kalimuendo and Gouiri, he scores the goal of the break and causes the chaos penalty for Saint-Etienne. A full match and a great show on his right side.
Replaced by Jota for the last quarter of an hour.
Calimuendo : 8
We finally expected a goal for the systematically starting striker, he scored three! Two penalties converted with tranquility, a goal in the game on a nice pivot, and an assist for Blas. A revival match for number 9, like his team.
Gouiri: 6
Not necessarily yet in great form, he still combined well with Blas in particular, and was rewarded with a beautiful goal, with a header, dedicated to Seidu.
Replaced by Gronbaek at the hour mark, who also showed himself.
