La Liga has written to Real Madrid to accuse Vinicius Junior of hacking over an Instagram story.
La Liga president Javier Tebas says Vinicius proved he respects his privacy when he uploaded to his Instagram story an image of a TV screen showing Real Madrid's clash with Liverpool, according to Relevo. The Brazilian missed the match with a leg injury but watched from home, reportedly on Brazilian channel TNT Sports, which owns the rights to the Champions League in his home country. In Spain, however, Movistar owns the rights.
Tebas is waging a war against piracy – alleging it costs La Liga around €700 million per season – and as a result he has asked La Liga to write to Madrid. It has, however, been claimed that Vinicius can legally watch TNT Sports Brasil in Spain if he has a Brazilian HBO Max account. Despite Tebas' protests, Vinicius may not have done anything illegal.
Tebas is zealous
Tebas would have written: “ If he's in Madrid, and I think he was in Madrid, it's piracy. Access to content to watch the Champions League in Spain must be through Movistar Television. To view this content, he had to have a VPN (virtual private network needed to propagate the signal), or a satellite dish pointed to another location. There must be active conduct outside the scope of Movistar. He hacked the match. It was communicated that next time he should not hack the match. »
In Vinicius' absence, Real Madrid lost 2-0 to Liverpool and they will be aiming for a rebound against Getafe in La Liga this weekend.
