OM transfer: The call from Andreas Pereira to Pablo Longoria
The summer transfer window for Olympique de Marseille was marked by intense activity. Twelve new recruits joined the Marseille club during this transfer window, but the squad could have included a thirteenth element: Andreas Pereira.
Indeed, the Brazilian international, author of a remarkable season with Fulham, revealed that he had been approached by Marseille leaders. “Abroad, a proposal arrived from Marseille, we discussed, and unfortunately it didn’t work”he told the media Brazilian Premier League.
Despite the failure of this first attempt by OM, the door remains open for a future transfer. Andreas Pereira himself expressed his admiration for Roberto De Zerbi's style of play and said he was open to the idea of joining Olympique Marseille in the near future. “That would be really cool, considering the way De Zerbi wants to play football”he said.
This issue is therefore likely to experience a new episode in the coming months. OM, looking for an additional midfielder, could return to the charge during the next transfer windows. However, Andreas Pereira's estimated price tag, around €20 million, represents a significant investment for President Pablo Longoria and his team.
