In a deep sporting crisis, Manchester United did not hesitate to sign a large check to Erik ten Hag to part ways with the Dutch coach. Ruben Amorim was stolen from Sporting Portugal to replace him.
Despite a contract extension signed only a few months ago, Erik ten Hag could not resist Manchester United's poor results at the start of the season. The leaders of the Red Devils broke down when they saw that their club was in the second part of the Premier League standings and chose to part ways with the Dutch technician. A dismissal which cost Manchester United dearly as revealed in the British club's latest financial report. Indeed, Erik ten Hag and his staff recovered 12.5 million euros, a hefty sum which is added to that paid by Manchester United to recruit Ruben Amorim and his numerous assistants from Sporting.
The total cost of the arrival of the Portuguese technician and his entire staff amounts to 13 million euros which means that all inclusive, Manchester United paid 25 million euros to part with Ten Hag and bring Amorim. A huge investment on the part of the Red Devils, who now hope that this choice will pay off in the long term. The idea is in any case to offer the former Sporting coach time so that his project can be put in place on good foundations. At this price, there is little chance that Ruben Amorim will be in the hot seat in the months to come.
