Big casting error in the last transfer window for Olympique Lyonnais, Wilfried Zaha and the perfect symbol of certain choices by John Textor which were not made in consultation with the sports management and the OL staff.
Out of shape upon his arrival and unmotivated during the first training sessions, the Ivorian striker on loan from Galatasaray was obviously not that happy to join Lyon. A lack of investment for which Zaha pays dearly, since Pierre Sage clearly does not count on him.
With only 111 minutes of play since the start of the season, Wilfried Zaha, who has only played 17 minutes in OL's last 8 matches, does not intend to stay forever in Lyon. Unlike Georges Mikautadze who passed the blues, the Ivorian clearly does not want to do violence.
Pierre Sage would therefore like to be able to part ways with a player who is harmful to the group. But there you have it, Galatasaray has already warned Olympique Lyonnais that there is no question of Wilfried Zaha making his return to Istanbul, even if the Turkish club has opened a small gap.
Indeed, Olympique Lyonnais will have to find a new base for the 32-year-old striker. A new club which, however, cannot be in Europe due to the fact that Zaha has already played for two clubs: Galatasaray and Lyon. 15 short minutes with the Istanbul team which will not make Matthieu Louis-Jean's task easier.
Wilfried Zaha will therefore have to sign for a club from another confederation. Joining two European clubs and landing in Saudi Arabia or the United States, all in the same season, is indeed possible. The other possibility, which was obviously ruled out by John Textor, is to compensate Galatasaray in addition to the 3 million euros paid for the loan.
