Before Stade Rennais – ASSE, Jorge Sampaoli presented himself to the press and the Argentine coach did not hesitate to point the finger at his attack.
The matches keep coming and Rennes still can't do it… For Jorge Sampaoli's first, Stade Rennais lost against LOSC (1-0). A logical defeat against a team that is performing well, however the points are lacking for the Bretons who currently occupy 15th place in Ligue 1. Obviously, there are several problems in Rennes but the attack is particularly singled out.
Before Stade Rennais – ASSE, Jorge Sampaoli was questioned about the poor performances of his offensive players and he did not mince his words. “Yes we have a problem in attack”, he first said, also talking about defensive problems. “We have to find offensive solutions. But if against Saint-Étienne, we play in a disorderly manner, we will lose,” warned the Argentinian.
“So we want to stabilize and organize the team, that’s the priority. We can get by playing a little anarchically, but in these cases, you need players who make the difference on their own, and in Rennes, for the moment, I don't see that kind of player. Our organization must disorganize the adversary,” analyzed Jorge Sampaoli in comments reported by L’Equipe.
Sampaoli wants more from Gouiri
Asked if Amine Gouiri could be an offensive leader, Jorge Sampaoli felt that the Algerian international had to show much more. “I hope it can be, but for the moment it is not, for factors that I have not finished analyzing. Here, with Marseille, I remember suffering because Rennes was a fast team with and without the ball, and Rennes lost that. Today, for there to be leadership, I have to find these players who are unbalancing,” he insisted.
