FIFA has published its new ranking of world selections. Trimming on African teams.

The last break of the year was not good for the African teams. Indeed, following the very average performances during the last days of the playoffs of the CAN 2025the recorded trend is downward. At least, in the top 20, as evidenced by the decline in the world ranking of more than half of the squad.

The Moroccostill the leading African nation, lost ground, while Egypt lost three places. Now fifth in the ranking, Nigeria has fallen eight places after a good climb. Which benefits Algeriaone of the few to maintain its position at the global level, and which steals fourth place.

Ivory Coast and Tunisia still in free fall

The Ivory Coast continues its remarkable decline, proof that the improvement following the miracle of the CAN is well over. After dropping seven classes last month, the Elephants lost six places this time. Same disaster on the side of the Tunisia. If they tone down their dizzying fall of 11 places of October, the Eagles of Carthage still released five. Hence the regression from 7th to 9th African rank. THE Cameroon which is stagnating, and Mali (+3) take advantage of this to grab 7th and 8th places respectively.

The RDC (-4), which suffered the biggest loss of points, was ejected from the African top 10 in favor of South Africa (+3). Burkina Faso (-4) remains for the moment a good distance from Cape Verde which is stagnating, unlike Ghana (-4), closely followed by only one world place by Guinea. Angola (-3) is overtaken by Gabon (+1).

Niger and the Comoros, best students

Equatorial Guinea (-5) and Uganda (-1), by Zambia, author of one of the most significant African climbs (+7) behind Niger (+9), already author of the greatest number points scored. THE Comoros recorded the best ranking in their history (103rd) due to their excellent results on the field. At the world level, Argentina maintains the lead ahead of and Spain.
