This summer, Fransergio joined Portugal, and the Maritimo club after a year in Brazil. This week, he announced the termination of his contract in order to join Brazil. What motivates his decision is a personal question. Indeed, Fransergio's son, Pedro, is autistic. On the island of Madeira, he says he does not have the resources necessary to improve his son's life.
“For me, what makes sense is my family. I apologize to my teammates”
Fransergio: “My Pedro needs much more than he can get here on the island (of Madeira), and in Brazil I have these resources (…) In the four months I have spent here, my son Pedro has regressed a lot. For me, what makes sense is my family. I apologize to my teammates, fans and support staff, but I cannot continue to help on the field.
My wife suggested that she could bring the kids back (to Brazil) while I stay until January, when the winter transfer window opens, to give the club some time, but I can't let her leaving alone for something that is ours. Now I'm going to take a month off, then I should continue playing” (source : footboom)
