The most capped player in the Algerian selection, Aïssa Mandi, reflected on the emotion of his 103rd selection in a press conference before the Ligue 1 match which will pit LOSC against Rennes.
«It was a bit special. We were already qualified, we just had to secure first place in the group. What we did in Tizi Ouzou. I will lie to youI told you that this 103rd selection does not make me happy.” declared Aïssa Mandi about his 103rd selection which makes him the most capped player in the history of the Algerian National Team.
The player declares that this record is the result of a lot of work and sacrifice even if he was never really focused on it: “ I don't chase records. But it happened. It represents a lot of work and sacrifice. So I take it.”
After making the history of the Algerian selection, the player was questioned about a potential new status. Aïssa Mandi indicates that this record does not give him new responsibilities and that he will continue to support new generations thanks to his experience: “I have no additional responsibilities. I think I have some with my experience. I must support the new generation and put this experience to their benefit.”
