Christopher NKunku at PSG! Chelsea's decision falls

Unhappy with his use by manager Enzo Maresca, Christopher Nkunku was announced as leaving during the next winter transfer window. The French striker would even be open to a return to PSG, where Luis Enrique would appreciate his profile. But Chelsea does not seem to have said its last word in this matter.

PSG transfer window: Christopher Nkunku remains at Chelsea

Christopher Nkunku's situation at Chelsea is more complex than it seems. Since his arrival from RB Leipzig in July 2023 for 60 million euros, the French striker has struggled to regain his level of play and his starting place.

Sources close to the player claim that he would be unhappy with his situation, in particular due to reduced playing time and a game system which does not highlight his qualities. These difficulties quickly fueled rumors of departure, particularly towards Saint-Germain, which would seek to strengthen its offensive sector.

While the Blues coach, Enzo Maresca, prefers the Senegalese Nicolas Jackson up front or the untouchable Cole Palmer a notch lower, the native of Lagny-sur- would not be against a return to his training club in order to find more time in a Parisian team, where the absence of Kylian Mbappé is clearly noticed in attack. However, The Athletic assures that Nkunku would not necessarily consider a departure or a loan in January. A position also shared by the management of the English club.

Chelsea want to keep Christopher Nkunku

Under contract until June 2029, Christopher Nkunku will continue his adventure with Chelsea, at least until the end of the current season. While Daniel Riolo and Parisian supporters expected to see him again in the capital this winter, the 27-year-old is determined to convince his coach Enzo Maresca to give him more playing time.

And that’s good since Chelsea, for their part, seem just as determined to keep the French international. After investing a large sum of money to recruit him, the London club is counting on its number 18 for this season and the future. However, if his situation does not improve, Christopher Nkunku could well ask questions about his future at Chelsea next summer. This series is therefore still far from over for Paris Saint-Germain and the French winger.
