Zuriko Davitashvili is the man in form at the start of the Saint-Etienne season. The former Bordeaux player has already scored 5 goals and delivered 2 assists under the colors of ASSE. The Georgian international is even starting to establish himself little by little within his selection. If they failed to be promoted to League A of the Nations League, Willy Sagnol's men will compete in the play-offs to avoid going down.
A remarkable first third of the season at ASSE
Arriving this summer from the Girondins de Bordeaux, Zuriko Davitashvili established himself within the ASSE attack. The Georgian international scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists during the first 11 days of the championship. He was even rewarded for his strong start to the season with the Player of the Month trophy for October in Ligue 1. A logical reward for a player who scored all of ASSE's goals during that month.
His start to the season only confirms his talent already revealed in France in Ligue 2 and more particularly in Bordeaux. He will even have played Euro 2024 with Georgia, a competition in which he did not play much. Since then he has had a different role with his selection. He is more often lined up by Willy Sagnol, proof of his progress since his arrival in Ligue 1.
Regrets for Davitashvili and Georgia
Having dominated the first part of its group in the Nations League, Georgia was unable to maintain the lead of its group. Willy Sagnol's men only took one point during the November break. The Georgians drew against Ukraine before playing the decisive match for promotion to League A. They lost 2-1 in the Czech Republic and said goodbye to promotion. Worse still, Georgia finished 3rd in its group and will have to play in the play-offs to avoid going down.
Georgia will face Armenia in March
This Friday noon took place the various draws for the League of Nations (Play-offs and final phase). Having finished 3rd in its group, Georgia will have to play the play-offs against a League C team to avoid going down. They will face Armenia during the international break in March. The first leg will take place away. It should be played on Thursday March 20, 2025. Zuriko Davitashvili and his team will host the Armenians 3 days later in the return match.
