The rag is burning between the DNCG and John Textor. While the body pronounced the Rhone club's protective relegation to Ligue 2 for next season, Jean-Marc Mickeler wanted to respond to the American in an interview with L'Equipe: “The DNCG listened perfectly, heard and understood what Textor explained to it. He is convinced that once he has listed Eagle Group in the United States and sold Crystal Palace and a certain number of players, the combination of one or more of these elements will enable him to substantially improve the OL situation. But the role of the DNCG is to be skeptical of any operation that has not yet been carried out. This is what we explained to the club. The DNCG only wants one thing, and that is for John Textor to carry out these important operations and for us to be able to not confirm this demotion at the next hearing. We have been talking with him for many months. These operations were postponed and were not pre-financed in risk as we request for other clubs. The DNCG requests bank guarantees or cash to cover part of these risks.”
He then went on to explain that he would not have been sanctioned if he had provided this guarantee: “Absolutely. Other clubs do it. There is no exceptional decision for OL. We asked him, like others, to pre-finance what we consider to be risks of budgetary non-execution. We presented to him how the DNCG worked and his requests when he bought the club. This precautionary demotion is a warning, nothing more, nothing less.“
The DNCG could not be firmer!
As a reminder, this response echoes Textor's offensive remarks last week against the DNCG: “We have been transparent, but he says in black and white that he does not want to watch information about our activities in France. He limited himself to the subsidiary. […] We have an information problem with the auditor and the DNCG. I don't think they are experts on the New York Stock Exchange. We have experts who will put their names on our IPO. At the DNCG, there are intelligent people, but they work in a system and do not want to look at what we are doing on a global scale. We did not have a complete explanation of the two lines of the decision (compared to the DNCG press release). We are surprised, I would have thought we would have had a confidential letter to work together […] We concluded that the DNCG did not have confidence in us. We contacted five banks recognized around the world. We are in a dynamic of transformation. It's true that I have problems with the DNCG, it's a lesson for me. For an American capitalist, the DNCG did not exist before. We are very optimistic about our model.“
