During the pre-match press briefing, Olivier Dall'Oglio first mentioned the news in Montpellier: “They passed the big dip, there were upheavals, when a club is turned upside down like that, it takes time to put things back in place. What we must fear among them are their individualities. They are strong individuals from the first division, you know some of them from here (Khazri, Nordin, Falaye Sacko). Some are capable at any time of scoring, making a score and making the difference.”
It will inevitably be a special match for the Saint-Etienne coach, who coached Montpellier, a club from his native region, between June 2021 and October 2022: “Yes of course it will be special, it is sure that when we play against a club that we know with players that we have had, it is always special but when the match starts, it is quickly forgotten . It's before and after the match that we meet people we've known, but afterward, when it starts, there's nothing left. It's my region, the big club in my region, also a big club at national level so it's special.”
Olivier Dall'Oglio looks back on his short period spent on the bench of the MHSC: “I would have liked to play there, I could have, like in Nîmes in fact. I worked in both clubs as an educator and as a coach but I was not able to play there. (…) We always learn things, even in the face of difficulty. When I arrived, it was a turning point for the MHSC with major players leaving, young people starting to arrive like Estève and Wahi who are boys that we grew up to be. It was a period of transition, unfortunately I didn't stay very long, that's the regret I have.”
