In the podcast Debriefers on ForEver, Julien Bée and the debriefers discuss together the season of
Girondins de Bordeaux who find themselves in
National 2. The journalist spoke about the big match ahead at leader Saint-Malo, and without Andy Carroll, who is suspended.
« Bordeaux will challenge Saint-Malo. This Saint-Malo team is quite simply a team which is undefeated this season, which is at the top of group B of National 2. It seems to have a very interesting structure, which knows how to be solid, to hold its back round when things are not going well and at the same time, who knows how to plant banderillas, whether outside or at home. So on the side of the Girondins de Bordeaux, we will have to be extremely well in place. The bad news came from the fact that Andy Carroll is suspended after three yellow cards, two with Bordeaux and one taken at the very start of the season with Amiens. He will therefore be suspended and absent for this trip to Saint-Malo. […] We saw it clearly, in the first ten minutes of the match at Bressuire, the Girondins abused long balls. We saw it in particular with Grillot two, three times, who was throwing balloons. Besides, in the comments I made on ForEver, I said 'Guys, there's no Andy Carroll today so we'll have to play on the ground'. We don't have a fixation point, we don't have a player like him capable of making fixations with his back to the goal. So we're going to have to learn to play differently and it's true that what's a little annoying is that it's going to be the wrong match, against the leader of this group. It's true that this Saint-Malo team scares us a little, all things considered. But without our number one asset it seems complicated. »
