Portugal victim of UEFA error

Winner of its match against Poland this Friday (5-1), Portugal faces Croatia tomorrow evening (8:45 p.m.), for the sixth and final day of the group stage. Already qualified and assured of finishing at the top of their group, the Seleção will present themselves on Croatian soil with a reshuffled squad. In addition to the injury absences of Rúben Dias, Diogo Jota and João Palhinha, Roberto Martinez has decided to rest Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva and Pedro Neto, while Bruno Fernandes will serve a one-match suspension.

As for Croatia, which is in second place but which is not guaranteed to advance to the next round, two players received suspensions. They are Petar Sucic and Andrej Kramaric. But then, what about Luka Modric? Indeed, if you were hanging around on social networks and/or football applications, you may have seen the information that indicated that the Real Madrid midfielder was going to be suspended this Monday, for accumulating yellow cards.

But nay. Indeed, this was an error on the part of UEFA, which had wrongly indicated that Modric had been warned against Scotland. Finally, it was Andrej Kramaric who was sanctioned, and who will miss the match. The 2018 Ballon d'Or will be there. To the delight of his audience.
