The qualifications for the 2025 African Cup of Nations took place at lightning speed. Started in September, this elimination phase allowed the Greens to win four times and concede a draw, with eleven goals registered for a single concession.
This accounting success was also accompanied by an interesting game, with the sole exception of the last match in Equatorial Guinea (played in particular conditions, it is true). So, as we turn this page and move forward towards new goals, Algeria can afford to think on other levels than that of simple victory.
Inaugurate this new jewel
Such an observation should not be subject to many contradictions: yes, the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium is probably the most beautiful and modern stadium in our countrystill in front of the Mandela Stadium in Baraki.
Its superb roof, its particular location (in the hills of Kabylie), its English-style configuration (the stands are close to the pitch, otherwise of excellent quality) and its modernity make it, in itself, an attraction for the Algerian public. The meeting will also be disputed
sold out and the 50,000 supporters of the region, who have had too little access to their country's matches, are therefore expecting a spectacle.
The beautiful game, pity!
The spectacle is precisely what is at stake here. The Greens disappointed in Malabo and will not be able to boast, this time, of playing on a bad pitch or in stifling heat. In Tizi Ouzou, temperatures will be very close to those experienced in Europe and so will the quality of the infrastructure.
We must therefore expect, even demand, that Algeria, which has no pressure of the result on its shoulders and neither does its opponent, offers something very pleasing to the eye.
It was also in Liberia that she offered one of her most beautiful compositions of the entire Vladimir Petković era.who then fielded a clearly offensive XI.
The XI, the opportunity to shine
This starting team will still have to be very (very) offensive, obviously. It also seems likely to see a four-man defense again, advocated by Vladimir Petković during home matches, but the questions are more in midfield and in attack.
If Adem Zorgue seems to be the only one to have a defensive profile, the other players can offer many options to the coach. As often in his last outings, the coach should in any case opt for a large number of players with an offensive vocation and also invite his full-backs to go very high. This audience is worth it!
