Several matches were played during the weekend, with a total of eight matches, only Brest not having been faced by ASSE.
Champions of the Third Division last season, the ASSE Cœur Vert 2 team obviously wanted to start their championship well on home soil.
Summary of the ASSE weekend
At the start of the weekend, ASSE faced Vandoeuvre. A first meeting to lay the foundations, with a kick-off given by three players from the professional Ligue 1 squad: Mathieu Cafaro, Thomas Monconduit and Anthony Briançon.
The Greens showed solidity and efficiency, winning 3-0, with a double from Alexandre Mosa. The team faced Vandoeuvre again at the start of the afternoon, and the Stéphanois triumphed again. They then signed a third victory by winning against Bordeaux! Saturday was therefore a total success for the Greens with a full success.
The next day, there was only one game left, this time against Montpellier. ASSE opened the scoring, but shortly before half-time, Montpellier equalized, making the score 1-1. From the start of the second period, Montpellier scored a second goal in the confusion, and then widened the gap (3-1). The Stéphanois had a difficult second act, conceding a fourth goal, bringing the final score to 4-1.
“It's a satisfactory weekend because we brought home 9 points out of 12, a good result for a first day. The defeat against Montpellier is also a learning lesson for our team. Montpellier is a D1 level team, and we were able to deliver in the first half. However, in the second half, we felt a physical and mental relaxation. This shows that we still have work ahead of us, especially to maintain the rhythm and intensity throughout the match. But I am very optimistic for the future, and I think that, if we continue to progress like this, we will be able to aim for the top of the table. »
The next meetings
We will now have to wait to see ASSE B in the championship again. On January 18, 2025, the Greens will travel to Brest for a double confrontation against the Bretons, a match against Châtenay-Malabry 2, and another against Villeneuve d'Ascq 2. However, you will soon be able to find the A football team -armchair, which plays in Division 1. On November 23, they will start in Lyon with matches against Châtenay-Malabry (x2), Lyon, and Douai.
