On France 3 Nouvelle Aquitaine, the deputy secretary general of MoDem, Fabien Robertspoke about the Girondins de Bordeaux. With what was highlighted by the Court of Auditors, namely the rent of Haillan, is it up to public authorities to come to the aid of the FCGB?
“Help mismanagement, no. On the other hand, is it the role of a city to preserve, support and help a club, yes. We need a big football club. We have a great football club which is going through a difficult period. I regret that the mayor of Bordeaux took a little time to get into the subject to really mobilize, no doubt out of hatred of the stadium, but today, we have a team in great difficulty. I believe that the communities, which do not have the right to help when the team is professional and things are going badly, and which on the other hand can pay enormously when the club is at the amateur level… There is something that is dysfunctional . I'm not saying that we have to pay for the waste, but I'm saying that when a club is threatened, the communities should be able to at least attempt a rescue plan, obviously without filling the coffers of those who brought us there. And you know what I think of Gérard Lopez.”
