While the Real Madrid infirmary is full to bursting, the Spanish club is looking into recruiting a central defender.
Real Madrid must deal with a veritable slaughter of injuries. While coach Carlo Ancelotti was already without Thibaut Courtois, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Dani Carvajal – sidelined until the end of the season – and David Alaba, close to a return to competition after an injury in December 2023, new Hard blows further reduced his squad during the victory against Osasuna (3-0) in La Liga this Saturday.
During this meeting, Lucas Vazquez, Rodrygo and Eder Militao also had to leave the pitch. According to the Spanish press, Vazquez should be absent for several weeks, while Rodrygo could return to the field in a month. But for Militao, the situation is much more worrying: victim of a ruptured ligament in his right knee, the Brazilian defender, like Carvajal, is out for the rest of the season. As a reminder, the Roc Auriverde had already been away from the field for many months, between August 2023 and March 2024, for a similar injury to his left knee.
Three names to strengthen the defensive sector
This cascade of absences could well lead the Madrid management to recruit defensive reinforcement this winter. According to ASthe Castilian club would have targeted Aymeric Laporte (Al-Nassr) and Castello Lukeba (Leipzig) to fill this void in defense.
However, Jonathan Tah (Leverkusen) would also be considered by the leaders, especially since his contract with the Werkself ends in June. The Hamburg native already shares a good understanding with Antonio Rudiger thanks to their collaboration in the German selection. However, the pro-Madrilenian media specifies that Laporte remains the priority to strengthen the defense in the eyes of the residents of Santiago Bernabéu.
