In an exclusive interview with 1899 L'Hebdo de la ProvenceMiralem Pjanic shared his analysis on the arrival of Adrien Rabiot at Olympique de Marseille. The former Olympique Lyonnais midfielder stressed that the ambitious project of Marseille leaders played a key role in the player's decision.
Miralem Pjanic explains that OM achieved a nice coup by signing the former Juventus midfielder: “Adrien Rabiot has played in major European clubs, and he has just joined a club with real ambitions. I can assure you that if he had not been convinced by the OM project, and by the encouragement of Mehdi Benatia, he would never have signed for Marseille. He would have taken his time and would not have hesitated to wait until the January transfer window to choose a more attractive option. But, this season, the best option was clearly Olympique de Marseille. The speeches of Mehdi, the president, and the coach had a decisive weight, that’s obvious. But beyond the sporting aspect, joining a club like OM, in a city as passionate about Football as Marseille, is real happiness for any player. »

Adrien Rabiot has played in major European clubs, and he has just joined a club with real ambitions
Miralem Pjanic is not surprised by the arrival ofAdrien Rabiot at OM and believes that this in no way constitutes a regression for the player. “What if I'm surprised by his decision? Not really. It is true that he perhaps expected a different transfer window this summer, but everyone has noticed that the transfer market has been particularly difficult this year. Football and its economy are experiencing profound changes, but in the end, Rabiot chooses a very large club with an ambitious sporting project. »
An OM strengthened by strategic recruitment
Pjanic continues by discussing the changes made by OM this summer: “Olympique de Marseille has made very ambitious choices, in particular by recruiting a new coach. Pablo Longoria and Mehdi Benatia have done a remarkable job to strengthen the team, with the arrival of quality players, bringing in new blood. No one would have imagined, at the start of the summer, that OM would succeed in attracting this coach and these players of this caliber. But it is precisely this that makes Marseille one of the most prestigious clubs in France, alongside PSG and Olympique Lyonnais. With these new recruits, OM have clearly made an impression. And I am sure that this did not escape Adrien Rabiot”concluded the ex-Lyon player to the Provence weekly.
