Real Madrid are sounding the alarm after “overwhelmed” Kylian Mbappé extended his streak of goalless matches to four on Saturday.
It's been a tough few months for Mbappé as his dream move to Real Madrid failed to go the way he hoped. He was uninspired again in Los Blancos' 4-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday, extending his goalless run to four games. Thierry Henry and Karim Benzema are among those who have spoken out about what is going wrong for the 25-year-old at Madrid and according to Marca, alarm bells are ringing at the Bernabeu.
The Marca report continues to claim that the Bondynois is overwhelmed by his poor form in front of goal. He's only scored once since September and the frustration is starting to show in his body language – he threw his arms in the air several times on Saturday and headed straight for the tunnel at the end of the match.
Mbappé more frustrated than ever
Mbappé's poor form has been attributed to off-field issues, including his recent falling out with France coach Didier Deschamps, his problematic trip to Sweden last month and his legal battle with Paris Saint-Germain over unpaid wages. On the pitch, he struggles to play as a number 9 while Vinicius Junior – who scored a hat-trick against Osasuna – shines on the left side.
Mbappé still has plenty of support in the dressing room and Carlo Ancelotti has backed him to start scoring soon. Left out of the French team's next outings, he will rest before trying to end his drought when Real faces Leganes on November 24.
